Pastor Doug, I'm a long-time reader of your fine works, and profoundly grateful to our gracious God for your ministry! My introduction to you came in the mid 80s through 2 PCA ministers in Hampton, Virginia during my time of serving a reformed Baptist church in the same town. Your book on water baptism (To A Thousand Generations) was a helpful aid in my journey to the font. The above teaching is an excellent example of how concise, clear and cogent your instruction is and remains. I rejoice to have found a new supply from within the "thousand sacred sweets" your RUclips channel provides! I must also add, your book, "Exhortations-A Call To Maturity In Worship" remains a constant companion and textbook full of grace and truth! SDG!!
This is amazing when he read the section about not rejoicing and being glad I was convicted paused the video ,got on my knees(now with joy and thanks for exposing my sin futhermore) , confessed my sinful pride asked for forgiveness and gave thanks. This is something the LORD has been brewing in me for a while (plenty more sin were that came from ) I've observed undercurrents of the glee for the LORDS sovereignty and even watched his sons(N.D. Wilson) thing on Chesterton and calvin but this video being quick and clear really did a number on me I give thanks for the brothers and sisters at christ church God bless!
I usually follow along well. For some reason, had trouble with this video. Will watch again and as many times as it takes to "get it". Thanks for your ministy and for posting these videos.
A local Pastor said something in his sermon last week that was rather poignant... Not all are even capable of comprehending truth, regardless of being receptive of it. "The Truth as he said is HARD, but we must not let it harden us." Both in our approach and efforts, persevere we must I might add...
This was most unexpected, thanks. Chesterton is on my bookshelves along with Calvin, John Owen, the Puritans, Jonathan Edwards, Charles Hodge, Benjamin Warfield, Berkhof, Cornelius Van Til, Gresham Machen, John Murray, Loraine Boettner, Arthur W Pink, Martyn Lloyd-Jones.
Wow! Really well done. I will save this and commit this to memory for better understanding. This format is better helps my edification, please if you would do more. Thank you and God bless!

Actually, Deuteronomy chapters 28 through 30 is a "prophecy" given by Moses for the coming lifespan of the Jewish people. Every marker that we later hear in detail in Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Zechariah, and Malachi is touched by Moses in these passages. We open the books of history to see them ALL fulfilled in crystalline detail, right up until LAST WEEK, and we rest in full assurance that the words of Jesus in the synoptics and John in his vision will rise up also to meet the encroaching events that are now upon us.
I prefer Pauline Calvinism. The doctrines of Grace are Gospel doctrines, people who do not confess and indeed attack them are not Christians, its that simple, to think otherwise is absurd. If it walks like an Arminian and talks like an Arminian its not a Calvinist, to think anything else is quackery. The Holy Spirit leads us to make true confessions of the gospel not false ones. If you really want to see the Gospel soar over this land, defend the Sovereignty of the Holy Spirit and his ability to lead people to believe AND Confess the true Gospel, if you don’t do this you are promoting Theological relativism and undermining the truth of the Gospel, by denying the clarity of the Gospel and the Sovereign power of the Holy Spirit to lead people to confess the Truth.
@@ChristKirk It’s interesting, because I see Wilson as a sort of Chesterton, in a way - I disagree with him on much, but on the issues where we agree, I’ve found his approach unique and helpful

Never expected to see Doug Wilson doing a PragerU video
Very Prager U! But great approach to teaching scripture. Thank you Pastor Doug!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This series is great, I especially appreciate the catechism summary at the end.
this was probably my favorite one. Very beneficial.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks, Brother Doug, that was very good.
Loved this lesson. Help me understand the significance of Eric Hoffer, not his quote, but that it came from him. Thanks.
No need. I searched Eric Hoff….wrong dude. It’s Hoffer. Got it.
“…permanent "humility" is just pride and arrogance in a fetal position.”
Not gonna forget this.
Such a good quote!
Joyful Calvinism.
Good stuff. I found the part about rightly appreciating and handling worldly possessions to be especially helpful.

Hi Rich - search "Reformed Basics" and you will find the whole series playlist. Enjoy!
These are great. How many more are you guys thinking of making?
Good stuff
Thanks for watching!
May I have a recommendation on the first Chesterton book to read?
Orthodoxy
Agreed!
As a PCA elder, my mantra is always "Calvinism is the right faith for the wrong people"
What exactly does that mean??

Do you believe that C S Lewis was saved?
God's grace is sufficient for those who repent. Perfect theology doesn't save you. God's grace does.
oh cool
Are these available in text format anywhere?
Hey Joshua - currently they are not but something is in the works. Cheers.
Let Jesus cut the Bacon!
Yet another explanation why the church in America and in the West cannot survive an amillennial eschatology. Pessimism breeds cowards and quitters.

Copelandian Calvinism.
And yet Chesterton was a fellow Catholic 🙂
Indeed!
